I started the Oregon State University women's rowing team Spring 1964 and was the first coach. I was the coach and advisor for 14 years prior to the team attaining Varsity Status in 1977-78. On March 1, 2014 at the annual OSU spring rowing banquet, 50 years of women's rowing at OSU was celebrated and I was honored with a crew shell being named after me. 13 former rowers from the pre-varsity years were in attendance and got the Varsity O letters that they never had received pre-varsity days. It was an incredible event and so great to see my former rowers. Had I had more lead time, I think I could have had more rowers come. As it was there were 347 at the banquet and they brought the shell up to the club level of the football stadium which is pretty amazing in itself.
